This page explains how to install the latest version eDive onto your computer.
If you have an earlier version of eDive (2.7 or lower) on your computer then YOU MUST UNINSTALL eDive FIRST before you install the new version. There is NO
upgrade patch to bring your old version up to version 2.9.n. You must uninstall your current version and then
install the latest version. Please read through the directions below for your situation. If you have any
questions at all please
contact us and we will help you through the process.
Please be aware that once you upgrade to version 2.9.n, your database and any data you export from it will no
longer be compatible with any version of eDive that is version 2.7.n or lower. If this is a concern then please
contact us and we will discuss your situation.
If you are running version 2.8 or higher then you can skip this tutorial. You only need to download and install the patch from our
downloads page.
Please select from one of the following situations:
I already have eDive on my computer. If you have an older version of eDive on your computer then follow this
process. The steps to follow are listed below.

- the last part of the install process will install database and reporting support libraries. These steps may take a few minutes depending on the speed of your computer so please be patient.
- When complete the installer will place an icon on your desktop for eDive. Once the installation is complete you can delete the setup.exe file from your desktop.
- Copy your database into the eDive directory
- At this point your database file (eDive.mdb) should have been copied to your desktop from the first step in this process. Find that file/icon on your desktop and right-click on it and select COPY.
- as shown in the video in the first step of this process please press the Windows key on your keyboard and the letter R. This will open the RUN window.

- Copy your license file into the eDive directory
You can follow the same process as above to copy your license file (license.ini) into the eDive directory.
I do not have eDive on my computer but I have an installation CD. If you do not have eDive already installed on your
computer and you have an installation CD then follow this process. The steps to follow are listed below.

- Copy your license file to the eDive directory
Your license file was emailed to you and will come as an attachment called "license.ini". You need to save the license file directly from your email
to the eDive folder. For Windows XP that folder is c:\program files\edive. For Windows 7 or Vista that folder is c:\users\public\edive. You never want
to open a license file. The license is an encrypted file that will get corrupted if you open it to view its contents.
It is beyond the scope of
this article to provide instructions on how to save an attachment out of an email for every email program out there. For most email programs you can
right-click on the attachment and select "Save As", then select the folder to save it to. For the other most common email programs you should be able
click on the attachment and select "Download", then select the folder to download it to.
If you have any problems or need help saving your license file out of your email, please contact us and we will help you.
Please launch eDive when you are done installing and verify that the program loads using your database and your license file. The license information
will be shown at the bottom of the eDive window. Once eDive loads you can safely delete any extra files that you placed onto your desktop during the
installation process.
Please let us know if you have any questions at all. We would be happy to walk you through the process or even set up
a time to connect remotely to your computer and do it for you. Visit our
contact page for information on how to reach us.
