What is it ?
This is the eDive Degree of Difficulty Calculator. It is a tool that allows you
to enter a dive number and position and it will tell you the degree of difficulty
for that dive on any board level.
How does it work ?
The degree of difficulty is not pulled from a database table or a static list like
every other program on the market. Doing that is very inefficient and requires
manually intensive data entry to keep it accurate. We are unique in that
we use the official FINA degree of difficulty formula (found here)
to calculate all of our DDs in real time.
The dive number is dissected and every component is calculated to produce the degree
of difficulty for every board level. You never have to worry about whether the DD
is from last years rules or not. It will always be accurate. So if you're not sure
whether a dive can be done in the position listed on a dive sheet, all you need
to do is type in the dive number with position and the eDive Degree of Difficulty
Calculator will tell you.
Do I have to purchase eDive in order to use the calculator ?
Absolutely NOT! That's the great part because you don't need to purchase a license
to get it or use it !
Where do I find it on my computer to launch it ?
After you have installed eDive you can launch the calculator by going to the eDive
programs group and selecting the eDive Degree of Difficulty Calculator shortcut.
Just select the Windows Start button and then highlight the eDive program group
and click on the eDive DD Calculator shortcut. This will launch the eDive Degree
of Difficulty Calculator as a separate program that can be kept open while you continue
to work within eDive. This approach allows you to quickly switch back and forth
between eDive and the calculator when you need it.
Within eDive you can also select the "Tools" menu and then "Lookup Dive DD'. This
will launch the calculator from within eDive. Launching the calculator this way
will keep the calculator on top of all other windows within eDive. In order to continue
in eDive you will need to close the calculator window.
How do I use it ?
Simply click in the "Dive #" field and enter the dive number and position of the
dive that you want to get the degree of difficulty for. As soon as you enter a valid
dive number the program will calculate the degree of difficulty for all board levels.
If you enter an invalid dive number you will be shown error messages which will
tell you why the dive is invalid as in the screen shot below.

How do I get it ?
If you are not currently an eDive customer (which you really should be to enjoy
all the benefits of the most widely used program in the country) simply download
our trial version and install it. You not only get the free eDive
Degree of Difficulty Calculator but you get 30 days to use the entire program for
FREE! That's a deal you just can't beat! And after the 30 days are up for the trial
version you can continue to use the calculator as much as you want.
